This time I have chosen Bright Eyes, for simple reasons: the music is beautiful, the lyrics are beautiful. This is what I want my children to listen to. I want them to listen, really listen. I want them to appreciate beautiful sounds and to feel happy, or sad, or whatever other emotion the music invokes.

I chose Bright Eyes today because their music remind me of the time when I was pregnant with the toddler. I’m taken back to a day when the big one and I were taking the car to be traded in for a bigger model, ready for the expansion of our family. Back then, Connor Oberst’s I don’t wanna die in a hospital was her favourite song ever ever ever and we listened to it on repeat the whole way. Here it is:

My favourite Bright Eyes track has to be This is the first day of my Life. It can be linked to anything: the day I became a mother, the day my children first smiled, took their first steps or said their first words. It could be today. Enjoy.
