Wowee Toys Lite Sprites Tree of Lite: a review

The big one and I were lucky enough this week to be sent a fantastic box full of toys to play with and review. With an added bonus, they arrived the day before her birthday in a box big enough to make the present pile super-duperly exciting!

Firstly, I have decided to do this review slightly differently, after talking to a non-blogging friend on the day that the goodies arrived. She told me that she, and others, prefer to read a quick bullet list of pros and cons when it comes to reviews and that lengthy descriptions and gushing puts her off and sends her elsewhere online. So here is my condensed version, with all the important facts.

Product:

Lite Sprites Tree of Lite from Wowee Toys

Description:

” The Tree of Lite is the place where the Sprites hang out. Scaled to interact with the rest of Lite-Topia, the Tree of Lite is alive with color, lights, sparkle and sounds.”

Lite Sprite Prisma and Lite Wand

Description:

“Lite Sprites use color and light to express their moods and feelings. Each Sprite has her own personality and domain in the natural world. The Sprite Sisterhood includes: Prisma, Astra, Meadow and Brooke. Bleak, the naughty Sprite, rejects color and uses her powers to eliminate or disrupt color in Lite-Topia.”

Sprites and Pods

Description:
“Lite Sprites use color and light to express their moods and feelings. Each Sprite has her own personality and domain in the natural world. The Sprite Sisterhood includes: Prisma, Astra, Meadow and Brooke. Bleak, the naughty Sprite, rejects color and uses her powers to eliminate or disrupt color in Lite-Topia.”

What it’s all about:
Lite Sprites are wonderful playsets that use lights and sounds to create a magical atmosphere. The Lite wands can be used to change the colours on the sprites and each different character has a different personality and characteristics. There are also pets to be collected, along with other playsets, such as the Windmill, Waterfall, Swing and Flower.

Good things:
* They are easy to set up and made from extremely durable materials
* Batteries are included in all of the lite sprites and include a sleep mode to reserve energy.
* The Lite Sprite Tree of Lite is not cumbersome, heavy or awkward- it can be safely moved from surfaces or packed away easily.
* The manufacturer recommends this product for the ages of 4-8. My daughter is 7 and has been playing with them imaginatively, writing stories and making up songs for them since she got them. My son is almost 2 and has also been playing with them!
* The Lite Sprite wand ‘magically’ changes the sprites colours with the help of a palette, which is a really nice feature.
* Wowee Toys are committed to child safety and security and all products are rigorously tested. See here for more information.
* The Lite Sprites have their own website, filled with stories, activities and games.

Not so Good Things:

*The Lite Sprite Tree of Lite playset is priced at £39.99 in Toys R us, which may be out of some parents’ price range. HOWEVER, I would add here that I believe the product is good value for what you get and the individual Lite Sprites are priced much lower, at £14.99.
* Batteries!!! It can be annoying, having so many batteries to change etc.
* The colour changing pallet could be easily misplaced as it is just a flower-shaped card and does not attach to the playset.

Verdict:
We love Lite Sprites! The Tree of Lite playset has been very popular and the soft lights of the sprites have been a source of wonderment with the lights off! The sets are slightly on the pricey side, but for the hours of entertainment we have already got from them, I would certainly recommend!
Perfect for:
little girls who love imaginative play and pretty lights.

** I have not received payment for this review. The big one and I are extremely grateful to have received the Lite Sprites for review, but all words are my very own.
